St Mary's church
Remarkable glass from the early sixteenth century, possibly under the direction of Barnard Flower.
The sequence of windows starts in the north aisle at n.V with The Creation. Then follows the story of Mary and
the Childhood of Christ. The Passion events are portrayed in the east window with the Resurrection events in the
south choir. The twelve Apostles fill the nave south aisle, followed by the Four Doctors of the Church. The three
western windows feature the theme of Judgement with the famous Last Judgement dominating.
On the south side of the clerestory are Martyrs and Confessors of the Church,
while the Enemies of the Church are to be found with a famous series of devils above them.
