Norfolk Stained Glass

Norfolk Churches

Denton, St Mary

The fine east window with its intersecting tracery of c.1300 is filled with glass of the C15, C16, C17 and C19, nearly all recyled and some from the Continent. Joshua Price’s arrangement of the glass in 1716-19 includes C15 figures and roundels, some with charming subjects such as two birds playing a musical instrument, Sts Christopher, John and Edmund and the Virgin Mary. In the south chancel is November / December from a series of the months, here depicted as The Killing of the Ox. A selection of details can be seen here:-
