Research by Prof Caviness has proposed a possible reconstruction plan based on the few panels that have survived. The inclusion of non religious subjects such as the Seasons, Labours of the Months and Liberal Arts, leaves open the question of what was at the center and Caviness has suggested The Trumph of Religion over Heresy. The center of the Lausanne rose probably had the Year - Annus - although it now has a more conventional God the Father. This mixture of religious and non-religious subjects can be seen at a number of locations of the late 12th/early 13th century rose widows, including the west rose of Paris. This is discussed by Elizabeth Carson Pastan in: It ought to be Mary: on themes in the western rose window of Notre-Dame of Paris.
