York Minster - West Window

The Great West Window - 16.5m high and 7.7m wide - was the gift of Archbishop William Melton. It has eight lancets and numerous tracery lights filled with - generally - well-preserved C14 glass. The lowest row of figures contains archbishops, the middle has the Apostles - doubling up in the outer panels - while the top row contains scenes of the Annunciation, Nativity, Resurrection and Ascension, with the Coronation of the Virgin above amid the canopies. However all of the heads in the lowest row - of archbishops - have renewed heads
